Are all your English teachers native-level speakers?

What examinations do you offer?
There are no formal examinations at the end of the course. Students are required to complete prep (homework) in ‘Week 1’ and a group multimedia project in ‘Week 2’. Teaching staff assess prep and the group project, with students receiving a report at the end of the course.
Will the student get a certificate at the end of the course?
Each student has a report sent home or to their agent, which gives information on their progress and involvement in the extra curricular programme. Students are also awarded with a certificate at the ‘Graduation Ceremony’ held at the end of the course.
Can we assist in getting visas for students?
Padworth College is registered with UKVI as a sponsor of non-EU students under Tier 4 of the Points Based System. For those students enrolling at Padworth College in September 2019, our letter of acceptance will support an application for a Tier 4 visa.
Does the College arrange airport transfers?
Yes, in line with our Terms and Conditions. Please refer to the section on Airport Transfers for further details.
Can I book for a 2 week course only?
Yes, it is possible to book for 2, 4 or 6 weeks.
Can I book for the first two week course and the last two week course and stay on campus between courses?
It is possible to book for the first fortnight and last fortnight, but it is not possible to accommodate students on campus during the two courses.
Can I arrive before the course start date?
No. We cannot accept students before the course start date.
What if I have to cancel my booking?
Please refer to our Cancellation Policy in our Terms and Conditions. In summary:

Is there a deadline to book a place?
There is no deadline to book a place. We will accept bookings as long as there is a place available for your age/gender/nationality. You should also consider the time required to obtain a visa (if required). We recommend early booking as places do fill quickly.
Does the College arrange health/medical insurance?
No. All students enrolling on the Academic Summer School must have their own health/medical insurance in place to cover non-emergency treatment or repatriation. Students from the EU must bring their EHIC card. This may be affected by Brexit.
Does the College arrange insurance of personal belongings?
No. The College does not insure against damage or loss of student’s personal belongings. Parents should make their own arrangements regarding travel insurance. The College cannot be held responsible for any damage or loss of personal belongings.
Do you arrange any other activities apart from studying?
Yes, there is a varied sports and extracurricular programme. In addition, the weekend programmes includes trips and excursions.
What type of accommodation do you offer?
Students are accommodated in single gender boarding accommodation on campus. The majority of bedrooms are single, with many having their own hand basin. There are a small number of twin rooms available upon request and subject to availability.
Can I request specific accommodation for my son/daughter or can they share with a friend?
You can make a request to the Academic Summer School office, which will be noted. Our accommodation is strictly separated by gender (boys and girls) and age. There are a small number of double rooms. We will try to place friends in the same boarding house and corridor if they are of the same gender and similar age. Accommodation requests cannot be accepted less than 8 weeks prior to the course start date.
Is there somewhere safe to store valuables and other personal possessions?
All rooms have their own key coded door. In addition, the House Office is able to lock away small items for safe keeping.
All students will have their passports and flight details and pocket money stored in a safe place .
Is there a mobile phones policy?
You can use your phone during free time, but not in class and at night, you will be required to hand in your phone to staff, so that you can get a good night’s sleep!
Do you cater for special dietary requirements?
Yes, we are able to cater for special diets including Halal, provided we have been made aware of the requirement.
Do I need to supply my own bedding or towels?
We supply all bed linen and this is changed on a weekly basis. You will need to bring your own towels. These must be clearly labelled with your child’s name. Towels are also cleaned on a weekly basis.
Is there a uniform?
All students enrolling on the Academic Summer School will be provided with 2 Padworth College branded polo shirts. These must be worn throughout the school day, along with dark trousers or a skirt and shoes. Jeans and trainers cannot be worn during the school day.
What should I pack?
Holiday/summer wear, including a light rain jacket and a jumper for cooler days/evenings. You should also bring comfortable footwear for walking and plenty of sportswear, including swimming costume and trainers. You will also need towels and shampoo/soap/toothbrush/toothpaste.
There is a weekly laundry service and clothes are cleaned and returned on the same day, so you only need to have enough clothes for just over one week. Please make sure all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
