We understand that sending your son or daughter away from home can be a very big step for both parent and child and as a result, we want to ensure that your son/daughter is safe and well cared for. At Padworth, we ensure that all students feel safe and cared for whilst in our charge and we pride ourselves on the care of students.
Padworth has a Safeguarding Child Protection Policy in accordance with the UK Government’s statutory guidance and it is reviewed regularly. Our Boarding Team deals with all issues relating to student welfare from homesickness to health and wellbeing.
We have a Medical Centre on site. Whilst we are able to cope with normal minor ailments, parents and/or guardians will be asked to fetch their child for anything that requires treatment by an NHS nurse.
Should your child have a long-term health condition, please get in touch with the Registrar to discuss any needs in confidence.
If your child has medication prescribed by a doctor, please bring it with full instructions (in English) and in its original packaging.
Whilst there is no charge to be seen by the College nurse, there may be charges incurred by students from certain countries for NHS hospital treatment. We encourage students to obtain insurance (travel and health/medical) before travelling. Students from the EU are required to bring their EHIC Card. This guidance may change after Brexit
The dining room offers a varied selection of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including:
We are able to cater for specialised medical diets and Halal, but require notice and suitable advanced guidance.
Arranged by gender and age, our boarding accommodation is managed by at least one House Parent living in the residence.
House Parents offer guidance and support for all and regularly check on the welfare of students. There are set weekday bedtimes for students.
Boarding Houses are alarmed throughout the night and there is an electronic key entry to all boarding houses. All bedrooms are also accessed by electronic key entry. For added security, CCTV operates throughout the campus.
All buildings on campus have Wi-Fi, but it is switched off from 10.30pm until 7.00am to ensure students have a good night’s sleep. There is also a robust Firewall in place. All students are asked to sign an ICT Agreement, committing to the fair and responsible use of electronic equipment, personal or otherwise.
A series of sessions to introduce students to life in the UK and to promote student safety are organised for the start of the course. These cover a number of topics, including:
Students have supervised or restricted access to a number of key areas on campus, including:
