Why choose to work at Padworth College?

We are an independent co-educational day and boarding school for students aged 13 to 18 (Year 9 to 13) that was founded in 1963 by Oxford University tutor, Peter Fison, whose vision was to bring Oxford’s educational philosophy of tutorial teaching to school-level education.

Individuality is celebrated through our highly differentiated learning approach, small informal classes and a personal, first name basis. Our approach to learning is enquiry-based and interactive. Our student body, representing approximately 30 different nationalities, celebrates cultural diversity. Our boarding, with its strong focus on pastoral care and student welfare, ensures there is a balance of academic study alongside recreational and social activities. We are located close to London and Heathrow International Airport, in an historic country estate in the middle of a picturesque and safe environment.

Padworth College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and therefore applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

We seek a responsible, patient and compassionate individual with a good sense of humour to join our boarding team.  A firm commitment to working in a busy independent boarding and day school is required.  Willingness to get involved in all aspects of school life is essential, including evenings and weekends.  The ability to teach an academic subject is desirable, but not essential.  This is a fixed term role from January to March 2021, with a possible extension through to the summer of 2021.

The role would suit those considering a career in education, having perhaps had some relevant or other experience working in teams.  It offers variety and the successful applicant will learn how to deal with many different situations and eventualities relating to pastoral care, developing initiative in the process.  The role provides good preparation for those considering a career in pastoral care or teaching.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 17  January, 2021.  Early applications are encouraged.  Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.   We reserve the right to offer the post at any stage in the appointment process or not to offer the post.

Padworth College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to appropriate vetting procedures and a satisfactory Enhanced DBS with Barred List check.
