All ISC students study English appropriate to their age and ability and where appropriate, are entered for the following University of Cambridge English Language examinations which are widely recognized around the world for work and study purposes.
Cambridge English: Key, also known as Key English Test (KET)
A basic level qualification that shows you can use English to communicate in simple situations and have achieved a good foundation in learning English.
Cambridge English: Preliminary, also known as Preliminary (PET)
An intermediate level qualification in English that opens the doors to opportunities for work, study and travel.
Cambridge English: First, also known as First Certificate in English (FCE)
An exam for people who need to prove they can use everyday written and spoken English at an upper-intermediate level for work or study purposes.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
IELTS scores are recognised by British universities and colleges who will set a minimum level as an entrance qualification.
IGSCE English as a Second Language (ESL)
IGCSE in English as a Second Language is designed primarily as a qualification either for candidates obtaining their secondary education through English as a medium of instruction, or studying English in order to enhance their future educational or employment prospects.
The majority of A level students are prepared for either this IGCSE ESL examination or IELTS as a university entrance qualification, unless they qualify as native speakers of the English Language .
