Learning to speak English
Students are totally immersed in the English language under the supervision of qualified and experienced teachers and activities organisers who together provide a full programme of teaching and leisure activities seven days a week. On arrival at Padworth, students are assessed by ability and then placed in an appropriate class of approximately 12-15 students. The teaching programme provides 21 hours of English lessons and makes use of a variety of teaching techniques to ensure that the learning process is an enjoyable one and to develop confidence in the use of the language, written as well as oral. At the end of the course, each student receives a certificate to mark the progress they have made.
For students aged 13+ who wish to undertake a more intensive course or who need to improve their English in preparation for starting academic study in the UK in September, we offer an alternative Summer Study course.
Social and leisure activities
A wide range of sporting, social and leisure activities is provided on the campus. The College has a heated, open-air swimming pool, two tennis courts incorporating a basketball court, and ample grass areas where students can enjoy football or volleyball or just relax. Table tennis and pool tables provide indoor entertainment. Creative students can pursue their interest in art and crafts, pottery and photography, drama or cookery. Evening entertainment includes quiz nights, talent shows, treasure hunts and the ever popular discos!
Excursions
Padworth is ideally located for students to visit places of historical and cultural interest including places such as Bath, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle and Windsor and the weekly timetable includes two full-day excursions. Local visits also take students to wildlife centres, farms and museums in the locality. Additional off-site activities include horse riding, ice-skating, golf, bowling and the cinema.
